Turn In Your Unused Prescription Medications!

The Office of Neighborhood Involvement’s Crime Prevention Program will partner with the Portland Police Bureau’s North Precinct at Fred Meyer, 7404 N Interstate Ave, on Saturday March 13, 2010, from the hours of 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM to take back your unused prescription medications. The Mobile Precinct will be located at the East end of the parking lot and staffed by crime prevention coordinators and police officers for the anonymous turn in of unused prescription drugs. The purpose of the one day event is to destroy unused and potentially dangerous prescription drugs in a manner that raises awareness about the abuse of prescription drugs among teens, while protecting our waterways.

This is the City of Portland’s second event and we are happy to be participating with other Oregon cities in a statewide day of prescription drug turn-in events organized by The Oregon Medical Association Alliance, CARSA and Oregon Partnership.  Community members will be able to turn in unused prescription medications, obtain information about keeping teens safe from the abuse of prescription drugs, and interact with ONI Crime Prevention Coordinators and Portland Police Officers.  Questions?  Contact Angela Wagnon, Crime Prevention Coordinator at (503) 823-4094 or angela.wagnon@ci.portland.or.us

Not able to attend this event? Two additional Prescription Drug Turn In events will be held this year. One event will take place in Southwest Portland in May. The third event will take place in East Portland in the fall. Stay tuned!
